Border Crossing & Logistics

Thoughtful logistics designed for comfort, safety, and a smooth travel experience

1. Hotel Pickup

Our driver will pick you up from any hotel in Samarkand and take you straight to the border.

2. Border Crossing

A quick pedestrian crossing at the Jartepa-Sarazm checkpoint, with no long car lines.

3. Meet in Tajikistan

A professional local driver (Russian & Tajik speaking) will already be waiting for you on the Tajik side in a reliable 4x4 vehicle.

English-speaking guide is available upon request for an additional fee.

4. Mountain Journey

A scenic drive up the mountain valley to all seven lakes, with plenty of time for photos and a picnic stop.

Why two vehicles?

Uzbek and Tajik vehicles cannot cross each other's borders — this is a local rule, not our choice. So we run a coordinated relay: our Samarkand driver takes you to the checkpoint, and our Tajik driver — who we have worked with for years — is already waiting on the other side. You are never alone at the border. Both drivers stay in contact with each other and with you throughout.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the questions travelers usually ask before booking a tour.

Is it safe to travel to Tajikistan? +

Absolutely! Tajikistan is a very welcoming and safe country for tourists. Locals are always ready to help, and our experienced drivers will ensure your maximum comfort and safety on the mountain roads.

What shoes to wear? +

Comfortable sneakers or light hiking shoes with good grip are the safest choice. Even on easy days, they make stops near water and short walks on rocky ground much more comfortable.

Is there mobile signal? +

Not everywhere. Signal is usually better near towns and some villages, but in the mountains it can disappear completely for stretches of the day, so it is best to warn family in advance.

Is it suitable for children? +

Yes, most routes work well for families if your child is comfortable with car rides. These trips are usually best for children who enjoy nature stops and short easy walks.

What's the best time to visit? +

The most comfortable season is usually from late spring to mid-autumn. Spring brings greener landscapes, summer offers long sunny days, and September to October often feels softer and more relaxed for touring.
