What you'll see along the way
Haft Kul means "Seven Lakes": a cascade of seven mountain lakes in the Fann Mountains, strung along a single valley. Each lake has its own colour and character, and the route is built around calm stops and the most iconic views.

Lake Marguzor
One of the largest and most photogenic lakes of the cascade, with deep turquoise water and a mountain village on its shore.
Stop 3
Turquoise Nejigon
The first lake of the cascade greets you with bright turquoise and is one of the most recognisable postcards of Haft Kul.
Stop 4
Far Hazorchashma
The seventh and highest lake of the cascade — the final point of the route, with the quietest and wildest views.

Departure and the border
An early start lets us calmly clear the Jartepa-Sarazm pedestrian crossing and reach the lakes before the heat of the day.

The first lakes of the cascade
You meet the driver after the border, transfer to the 4x4 into the Haft Kul valley, and make the first stops at Nejigon, Soya and Khushyor.

The whole cascade to Hazorchashma
We climb the valley past Nofin, Khurdak and the large Marguzor, all the way up to the far seventh lake, Hazorchashma.

Return to Samarkand
After resting by the water and having lunch, we head back to the border and return to your hotel in Samarkand.

The first lake of the cascade, with bright turquoise water — the most recognisable postcard of Haft Kul.

Soya
A quiet lake surrounded by cliffs that often stays in the shade — which is exactly what its name means.

Khushyor
A lake next to the village of the same name, where you can see how the mountain hamlets of the valley live.

Nofin
A calm lake with a mountain village on its shore — a convenient stop in the middle of the route.
Lake 5
Khurdak
A small lake between mountain slopes — the most compact in the cascade, but no less scenic.

Marguzor
One of the largest and deepest lakes of the cascade, with a rich turquoise colour of water.

Hazorchashma
The highest and farthest lake of the cascade; its name translates as "a thousand springs".

We were born and live in Panjakent, a few hours from the Haft Kul cascade, so we know the Seven Lakes valley like our own backyard — which lake looks best at which time of day and where it is comfortable to stop.
For this route a calm pace matters: getting through the whole cascade without rushing at each lake, and still returning to Samarkand the same evening. It is in these details that the trip becomes genuinely comfortable.

What shoes should I wear? +
Comfortable sneakers or light hiking shoes are best. Even if there isn't much walking, they are noticeably more comfortable at viewpoints, near the water and on rocky ground.
Is there mobile signal? +
Partly. Signal is usually better near towns and some villages, but in the mountains it can drop out. If staying connected matters to you, it's best to warn family in advance.
Is the tour suitable for children? +
Yes, if your child is comfortable with car rides and short walks. For families it's especially important to choose the route and pace, so we can always suggest the calmest option.
When is the best time to go? +
The most convenient time is usually from late spring to mid-autumn. Spring is especially green, summer is convenient thanks to long daylight hours, and autumn often brings milder weather.
